About guayusa and our impact
A family-owned company that works with indigenous small farmers to promote social change through projects that do not lose sight of human’s relationship with nature.
is a Kichwa word that is most commonly thought to mean Earth or world. However, it really means much more than that according to ancient Inca and Kichwa tradition. More so, it is the relationship between time and space and all that stands within that. Nature, the universe, and our existence in time and space are all connected and ever-flowing.

Natures energy - beyond tea and Coffee
Guayusa is a tree native to the Ecuadorian jungle, whose leaves have been brewed by indigenous peoples for centuries.
TRADITIONAL USE:
RUNA KUNA: Indigenous peoples of the Ecuadorian rainforest use guayusa leaves to make an energizing beverage to drink in the morning.
THE TSACHILA COMMUNITY:Indigenous group native to the coastal region of Ecuador traditionally use guayusa leaves for healing and spiritual activities.
In February 2023, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) certified the Amazonian Chakra System as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.
"The Amazonian Chakra can be defined as a sustainable land-use model in which productive spaces located within the farm are managed by families under an organic and biodiverse approach, valuing ancestral knowledge" (FAO, 2023).
We have made a conscious decision to work with a few communities specifically, instead of working with various communities, in order to have a greater impact within the communities. Through working with fewer guayusa farmers, we are able to purchase from them regularly, providing them with a more reliable income from their guayusa leaves. As our business grows, we will work with more communities, but always keeping in mind the idea of quality over quantity.
Our goal is to make a real difference, thus we must keep in mind what IMPACT truly means.
